Yiorgos

About this author:

Originally from Greece, Yiorgos moved to Ireland in 2004. It was a year after he was introduced to the world of cigars, when Mark offered him what he remembers to be his first Cohiba Robusto. Since then, Yiorgos has developed a keen interest in the cigar industry and is continiously trying to further his knowledge of all its dimensions. While his family and work are his highest priority, he has found his pursuit of cigars to be more than just a hobby; a passion.

We are back online!

At first [...]

Cohiba 1966 2011 Edicion Limitada

I am going to take a break from the review series of the 2012 to smoke a cigar I have been waiting for since last February; the Cohiba 1966 2011 Edicion Limitada. In 1966 the cigars that had become Fidel’s favourites and were only given as diplomatic gifts to heads of states were given a [...]

Although La Gloria Cubana have produced some remarkable cigars in the last few years, it is still one of the less popular brands in the market today. The brand was eshtablished in the late 19th century, taking a long break around the revolution and being re-introduced to the market in 1965. Many have said that the La [...]

In Our Memory Of: Vegas Robaina Clasico

A brand that will take a big hit after the 2012 deletions is Vegas Robaina, as two out of the five cigars in their portfolio are due to be axed. One of them is the Clasico, a Lonsdale that was released when the marca was born in 1997. In a brand that is characterized by [...]

In Our Memory Of: Punch Petit Corona del Punch

One of the two petit coronas in the 2012 deletion list is the Punch Petit Corona del Punch. The Petit Corona del Punch is one of the two marevas in current production (until 2011) from Punch; the other one is the Punch Coronation, the petit corona we see in every off licence in Ireland either [...]

In Our Memory Of: Romeo y Julieta Corona

The Romeo y Julieta Corona is one of the oldest coronas still in regular production. When the Corona was a popular size, the Romeo was always a safe bet for smokers that preferred a milder smoke. Nowadays, it is one of the many cigars that are often being overlooked.
In my previous  experience with this cigar [...]

In Our Memory Of: Hoyo Churchill

Another classic cigar that is being discontinued in 2012 is the Hoyo Churchill. Not so many years ago, when the robusto and corona variations were the popular sizes, Churchill was the size of “celebration” cigars. With the number of large format cigars being limited back then, the sales of the Hoyo Churchill were good. Nowadays, [...]
