2010 Habanos Releases
Sunday, February 7th, 2010With less than to weeks left before the 12th Habanos Festival, where Habanos will present their full plans for 2010, we already have an idea of what to expect in the new year. Some of the releases have already been known since the middle of 2009 and some of them only became available in the last couple of weeks. In the list below, you will see what you can expect in the new year. As every year, last minute changes are always expected, especially in the regional edition series, but the list is more or less complete.
Limited Editions
The list of the 2010 limitadas was the first one to become known about since the beginning of the summer and nothing has changed since… Three vitolas, all from Habano’s top brands, in larger sizes than last year. Surely some nice cigars to be looking forward to.

Regular Lines
Five new vitolas will enter Habanos’ regular production, from two well known brands, Cohiba and Romeo y Julieta. Three new Cohibas will appear on the shelves late this year, with the name “Behike”. The original Cohiba Behikes were launched to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the brand, fetching originally $18,000 for a humidor of 40. The new Behikes will come in three sizes and are expected to be a lot cheaper than the originals!
Romeo y Julieta will bring two new vitolas on the market; the “Julieta”, a small panatela targeting the female audience, and the “Wide Churchill”, a swollen short churchill!

The Regional Edition (proposed) list for 2010 is consisted by 21 cigars, for 14 regions. The list has been proposed since early June 09 and judging by the 2009 list, we can expect a good few last minute changes.

2010 will see some great new cigars coming out of the island. There is still some gaps in the list and we would expect to have the full list after the Habanos Festival. Some of the cigars will be launched in the festival too, so we will be looking forward to hear all about them.

Great post Yiorgos.
So jealous of the lads going to the festival and here’s hoping that this time next year we’ll be looking at an Irish RE and an Irish Casa del Habanos branch in Balbriggan :p .
Looking forward to trying the Grand Edmundo (i’ve been a fan of the petit /edmundo for a few years now) and the Wide Churchill..the short churchill is always a solid if not very exciting smoke !
Is the Cohiba Behike going to be another Montecristo Open ?
Hi Dara,
I wouldn’t think that the Behikes will be watered-down Cohibas, but you never know!
We will get sore jaws trying to smoke all these 54/55/56 ring gauges this year!
Just had the monty le 2010 and i have to say i was unimpressed by it.. Very much like the open eagle last year.. terrible burn issues made me not enjoy it at all…
I suppose its alomst to be expected by a new monty
Thats a pity, I am looking forward to try them, especially the Partagas! I will give feedback when I get my hands on them
