3rd Transnational Cigar Tasting, December 27th 2011
Sunday, December 18th, 2011Our cigar community has been invited to take part in the 3rd Transnational Cigar Tasting, which will be taking place on December 27th 2011. The Transnational Cigar Tasting is an event that was initiated by the Russian Cigar Union (www.cigarinfo.ru) in 2009. Last year 13 cities from 10 countries took part reviewing the Trinidad Robusto Extra, and in 2009 smokers from 7 countries participated in the tasting of the Ramon Allones Specially Selected. For information and photos on previous events please see the following links (you may have to brush up your Russian, or use Google Translator).

The concept is simple; cigar lovers from all around the world gather on the same day to smoke the same cigar, share their thoughts, rate it and compare results from fellow smokers from around the world. A group photo is taken before the event with all participants in front of a landmark of their city. I think this is a fantastic idea and I am delighted we will be taking part in it this year.
So, the itinerary for the Irish cigar tasting will be as follows: on Tuesday December 27th at 6:00pm we will be meeting in the smoking terrace of O’Neills Pub in Suffolk street for a quick pint, and then head for our group photo at 6:40 with our favourite Mollie Malone. Then at 7:00 we will then make our way to McGrattans Bar, 76 Fitzwilliam Lane, Baggot Street, Dublin 2, where we will be smoking the Romeo y Julieta Cazadores, the same cigar that out fellow smokers will be reviewing around the world. Our photos and ratings will be sent to the Russian Cigar Union and will be published along with the reports from the rest of the participating countries. One of our fellow smokers an aged box of Romeo y Julieta Cazadores from 2000, and is supplying the cigars for our tasting at no charge for the attendees.
Join us for a fun night in McGrattans, where we will all get the chance to smoke the same cigar and share our thoughts, and show the rest of the world how the Irish do it! No ticket, booking or any form of payment is required for the event; your cigar will be supplied to you on the night with no charge. However if you plan to attend please send me an email so I can have an idea on the number of attendees.
See you all there!
