Herfs in October

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

cigars_rumThis is the time of the month that we would normally be hosting our monthly smoking get together. But we have decided to give September a miss, as we have an action packed October, with no less than 3 herfs in the space of three weeks!

The first herf will take place on Saturday October 1st 2011 in the Greyhound Bar, in the town of Kilkee, county Clare. The Greyhound and James Fox will be hosting a Cigar and Rum evening, between 6 and 8pm. Admission to the event is 10EUR, will include a Cuban cigar and a Rum, and tickets can be purchased in the venue. The evening will be part of the Cuban Cultural Festival that will take place in Kilkee between September 30th and October 2nd, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ché Guevarra’s visit to Kilkee. A weekend full of Cuba in the west of Ireland sounds too good to miss! For more information on the Cuban Cultural Weekend, see the relevant post on Cigars.ie.

Our regular, monthly get together will take place three days later, on Tuesday October 4th 2011 in the No Name Bar on Fade Street, from 8pm. Our friend from the States, Rick Green, will be travelling from the far side of the Atlantic (for the third time may I add) to join us for a night of Cuban cigars and plenty of Guinness. As usual, there will be no formalities, just come along, bring your cigars and join us on a fun evening!

And as if two herfs are not enough, the “main event” for October will be the Cigar & Rum evening in the Porthouse Iberico in Dundrum, on Wednesday October 12th 2011. After a very successful event in the same venue in June, James Fox and the Porthouse are organizing another evening for Dublin’s cigar and Rum lovers. The evening will include a tasting of the following treats: Cabiz Espumante Portuguese Cava, Angostura 1919 8 year old and Angostura 1824 12 year old rums from Trinidad & Tobago, Bolivar Corona Extra and of course the delicious Porthouse Pintxos!

Our special guests on the evening will be Bertha Corzo, a grade 9 roller and head of Quality Control in El Laguito, the home of Cohiba in Havana, and John Georges, Master Distiller of the Angostura Distillery in Trinidad and Tobago. Definitely this is a night not to be missed! Tickets are 25EUR and can be purchased through Jamesfox.ie Website.
