New Montecristo line in 2009?

The rumours of the production of a new Monecristo line (originally planned to be named “Sports”) are getting confirmed as we are getting closer to 2009. The “Open” line will be added to the Montecristo regular production and will be available worldwide.

According to the same rumors, the “Open” line will feature vitolas that are milder that the regular Montecristos, targeting the casual or begginner smokers, or even the seasoned afficionados that prefer milder cigars.

There will be four vitolas in the series, the names of which are yet to be confirmed. However, the sizes are already known. It will be a Trabucos (38×110), a Reggata (46×135), a Robusto (50×124) and a Geniales (54×150).

More information about the new line will be revealed in the Habanos Festival in February, as well as the first tastings.
