Poll: Your favourite cigar of 2009
Thursday, December 17th, 2009
The poll for 2008’s favorite cigar this time last year got a great response, so it is about time we vote for our favorite cigar of 2009.
So, put your thinking caps on and try to remember which cigars you enjoyed the most last year. Post a reply on the thread and vote for your 3 favorite cigars, in no particular order. They don’t need to be a ‘09 production, as long as they are regular, limited editions or regional production cigars (Cuban or Non Cuban) that you smoked in 2009.
Looking forward to hear your votes

I take it that “regular production” rules out Limited and Regional Editions… or could we assume that if it was a favourite LE or RE that it will at some stage in the near future be in regular production???
Ok, lets get the ball rolling…
My favorite smoke (and highest rated) of 2009 was without question the Cohiba Sublime Extra, from the 2008 Habanos Collection Series (Habanos Book). However, because it is a cigar that I would not consider a regular release due to the price and rarity, I would cast my three votes on the following cigars - in no particular order:
1) 2009 Partagas Serie D No.4
An all time favorite, just gets better and better every year!
2) Trinidad Robusto T
I have always liked the Trinidad blend, but not the sizes; they were either too big (Double Robusto), too long (Fundadores), too small (Reyes) or too thin (Coloniales). The Robusto T is the perfect size (to me) for a Trinidad.
3) Ramon Allones Gran Robusto - 2007 Benelux RE
I was totally caught by surprise from this cigar. The most complex and creamy Ramon Allones I have ever had, a magnificent cigar that would easily score 92-93 points.
Just rephrased that…
Limited and regionals are included, but not rare cigars or collector’s editions, like the Sublime extras, the gran reservas and the Behikes
Mine would have to be :
1. Romeo & Julieta Duke LE 2009. I’ve had a few of these this year and loved every one !
2. Montecristo Petit Edmundo. Can’t beat it for a short smoke (i.e. when you have to smoke outdoors)
3. The Dara/Berta robusto that was produced in the basement of Foxs last friday….The creamiest cigar I’ve ever smoked !
1. Ashton Aged Maduro no.10. A robusto, I worked my way through a box of these during the year. Make sure you’re sitting down when you smoke one !
2. Monte No. 3. Still one of the best coronas out there - if you get a good one.
3. ERdM Choix Supreme. very smooth.
