Which is your desert island cigar?
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009
On the last herf, Rob - a fellow BOTL asked me:”which is you desert island cigar”? Without much thought i replied: “The Partagas D no.4″. Then moments later I thought, “Well, maybe the Cohiba Robusto… Or the Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill… Or the Cohiba Pyramide 2006… Or the Romeo Churchill… Damn, I can’t make up my mind!!!”
Well, which is your desert island cigar? The one and only that you could get with you in unlimited supplies until the “Searcher” comes to rescue you? Be careful though because there can only be one…

My desert island cigar would have to be the Epicure No.2 from Hoyo de Monterrey. This may seem to be a strange choice, considering I can choose any cigar in existence. However, my experience of this cigar has been one of inconsistency, and therefore, the fact that they can range from exquisite, to very ordinary, it would be like smoking a different cigar everyday.
What about a Montecristo A - provided they are supplied in single coffins. That way you could strap the coffins together to form a raft and using a layer of cigars for bouyancy, you could attempt a self rescue, rowing home using two Monte A’s as oars.
Desert island cigar with a load of Monecristo A…
Why would you want to be rescued????
How many coffins would you need to create a raft…now there’s a calculation for a debate after several pints at the christmas herf !
If money was no object I’d go for the Cohiba Maduro magicos as my desert island cigar, never met one I didn’t enjoy.
Otherwise it’d be a Monte 2 but as food mightn’t b e too plentiful as they can be fairly harsh then maybe a Partagas P2 instead.
Ideally though a nice twenty something cuban “girl friday” who was easy on the eye and could roll complex cigars would make a great companion….Oh and a tabacco plantation on the desert island would be nice too !
Mmmm cuban girl friday.
