A visit in El Laguito
We are all back after a fantastic week in Havana. Readjusting to the Irish climate is not easy, and my first cigar back at home tastes like muck!
One of the great days in Havana was the one we spent in El Laguito. Thursday February 24th was the day of the official factory tour. While the [...]

Learning to roll a cigar with Hamlet
During his visit in Dublin, we got a chance to meet Hamlet, in an event hosted in JJ Fox. During the event, I got the chance to get a hands on tutorial on how to roll a cigar. The result was not very pretty, but I thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Hamlet rolling cigars in James Fox
Good news! Cuban master roller, senor Jaime “Hamlet” Paredes, will be visiting Dublin for a couple of days during his UK trip.
For those who haven’t heard of him before, Hamlet is a 9th grade cigar roller, the highest grade a roller can achieve in Cuba, and he is considered one of the top three Cuban [...]

The girls from El Laguito
If there is a cigar size that I could relate to a beautiful woman, that is without a doubt the Laguito No.1. Unfortunately, this size is not [...]

The 12 Robustos of Xmas, Day 12:
Cohiba Robusto
Although one of the newest brands in Cuba, Cohiba is considered the cream of the crop, the “King of Cubans” in the cigar world. Their vitolas are the most desired amongst the cigar afficionados, and are generally the most expensive brand on the market. Established in 1966, Cohiba cigars were [...]

The 12 Robustos of Christmas, Day 1:
Trinidad Robusto T
Christmas has now been and gone, and we are in the first of the 12 days of Christmas. I have actually been looking forward to this day, so much that I didn’t smoke a cigar on Christmas day, in order to keep my taste buds fresh for [...]

For those who missed her the first time (or have already missed her) Berta Corzo, from Cohiba’s El Laguito, will be visiting Dublin again next week. Berta has worked as a torcedora in the Cohiba factory for over 25 years, where she has perfected her skills in rolling any vitola.
Rob, David and Berta were kind enough [...]
